Sonoran Desert Birds in Graphite

The Sonoran Desert abounds with birds! Let’s celebrate the desert’s rich avian diversity through art. We’ll use graphite pencils to create dynamic sketches that capture the personality of Greater Roadrunners, Curve-billed Thrashers, and Elf Owls.

All art materials provided by Tucson Botanical Gardens.

Saraiya Kanning

Saraiya Kanning is a Tucson artist with a passion for animal subjects. She works across multiple mediums, including ink, watercolor, and silk painting. Saraiya’s art is often characterized by bold, vibrant colors and stylized mark-making. When teaching, she seeks to make art enjoyable and accessible to all. 

Refund & Cancellation Policy

No refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be issued for special events. We reserve the right to cancel Community Classes due to insufficient registration, garden closure, or inclement weather, in which case, participants will receive a full refund. People with disabilities should make requests for accommodation as early as possible to allow time to make appropriate arrangements.
